Okay, I have a confession.
I kind of hate it when people talk about SEO.
That sounds really weird for an online writer, doesn’t it? After all, everything from web pages to blog posts has to be search engine optimized, otherwise how can a business get anywhere online?
I don’t deny that SEO is important. And in the time that I’ve been writing, I’ve learned a whole heck of a lot about editorial SEO and incorporating a keyword strategy and all that sort of fun stuff.
And yet… whenever I hear a potential client mention SEO, I wince.
That’s because, for a lot of people, SEO is something they want to fix their problems. “Can you do SEO for my website?” they ask, hoping that it’s something that can happen overnight.
It’s always difficult to explain that search engine optimization, especially the editorial kind, isn’t something that changes right away.
It’s a long-term investment in the content of your site. It’s a bet that no matter how many times Google updates its algorithm, your content will stay relevant to your audience.
But, at the same time… I get it.
Sometimes, you need a few quick improvements that can give your web presence a boost.
Sometimes, you want something that you can do overnight to start making a difference.
I get that.

Yay, thank you for creating this! I really loved your ‘hot, cold, and mild’ email templates-PDF, so I know I will love this too. SEO still puzzles me, so this will be really helpful 🙂

I hope it’s helpful! I tried to write it for people who are NOT technical SEO wizards (which, hi, me too) so hopefully it’s straightforward and easy to understand!
