My November wrap-up is shamefully late.
And that’s because… well, November kind of kicked my butt. I ended the month exhausted and more than a little burnt-out. So, I’m slowly (but not too slowly) trying to get myself back on track.
Projects & Opportunities
- First – NaNo. I made it through (though I didn’t end up with a completely full draft. But I also discovered exactly how exhausting that is when all the other work I do is writing as well. To keep myself motivated, I brainstormed some ways to keep writing… even when I just wanted to stop.
- I “met” (online) two new critique partners! We all forced our way through NaNo, so we’re going to help each other stay motivated to get those WIPs finished. (Say hello to Candace and Krystal.)
- I had two fantastic auditions this month! The first was for “HMS Pinafore.” Since that’s definitely a singer’s show, I wasn’t too surprised not to be cast. I was just glad to get through the audition so well given my fear of singing. The second was for “Diary of Anne Frank” – which has literally one part in it that I am eligible for, given my body type, coloring, and age. But I got a callback for it! Now I just have to rock that as well.
- Speaking of acting, I took some time to reflect on business lessons I learned from acting and how those affected my switch to a freelance career.
- I took on some new copywriting work – quite a lot of it, in fact. This probably contributed to my writing burnout, but working with new projects is always exciting.
- I continued to hone my social media management skills, which provided a nice break from all the long form writing.
Goals
- Have a great callback for “Anne Frank”!
- Finish the draft of my WIP by the end of the month. Then, in January, I can get down to the business of serious editing.
- My new website did not get finished this month. I’m a little bummed about that – I wanted to have everything set up already. But I’ve got my fingers (and toes) crossed for everything finally getting wrapped up in December. That way, I can start advertising my new brand in the new year!
- Recover from my burnout – I need to get to a point where the different jobs I do are in better balance and I’m not on my computer all day long!
- Send out gifts to my clients. This wonderful life I’m living wouldn’t be possible without them, and I want to let them know how much I appreciate their business.
What are your goals for the end of the year?
