This month, I tried to take a little more time for myself.
I scheduled dinners and drinks with friends I hadn’t seen in a while. I started running regularly again. I met my husband for lunch once a week. And it made a huge difference in my energy level. Lesson learned – if I’m going to work at home, I need to schedule time to get myself out of the house.
Projects & Opportunities
- I had some fun new projects this month! I helped one of my writing clients, a bridal jewelry company, organize a photo shoot for their new products. So I got to spend a day on set behin the camera, not in front, which was a rather new experience. I really enjoyed it, though – check out behind the scenes photos. I was really nervous going into things, since it was such a new thing for me, but I’m trying to be more open to new opportunities as they come.
- I also ran a really successful email campaign for that same client which tripled their social media followers. (If you need help with your social media, let me know!)
- I rather bombed an audition that I was really excited about. Not by doing anything too badly, but by doing everything just okay. I think I psyched myself out because I’m getting a little desperate for a show to work on. I need to get my acting focus back.
- But I did have a great revelation about not putting myself in a career box. Ever since then, I feel like a huge weight has been lifted. It’s amazing the pressure we put on ourselves, isn’t it?
Goals
- Not psych myself out at auditions again. I have two coming up in November.
- I’ve decided not to do NaNo in November, but I will do NaNo(ish) by using it to motivate myself on my restarted WIP. If I write 50k-60k words this month on top of what I already have, I should have a full draft of that sucker done by December.
- I’m working with a web designer on a new business site, which includes complete rebranding of my copywriting work. I’d like to get all that done and fully launched before the end of November.
- Be open to more new opportunities. The photo shoot was so much fun, I’d love to do more jobs like that!
Are you doing NaNo? Or even NaNo(ish)?
