Today, this week, there’s something a little different happening here.
Something that can save you money and do some good for children who desperately need your help.
If you’ve been around this site for a little while, you might remember that once upon a time — so long ago, but not that long ago either — I went on maternity leave.
My son is 21 months old now, and this past Friday, for the first time, he had a night terror. Though he slept through the whole thing, it took me and my husband more than ten minutes to calm him down, reassuring him as he screamed and cried that Mama and Daddy were here, that he was safe.
I held him long after he quieted. And when I finally put him back in his crib and made my way downstairs, I broke down sobbing myself.
When my son was scared, I was there to comfort him.
But as the news last week made us all painfully aware, that is not true for every parent and every child.
Though the Justice Department’s policy of indiscriminately separating children from their immigrant and asylum-seeking parents has been, for now, halted, thousands of families have already been torn apart. At the moment, there is no plan for reuniting them. It’s possible some of these families may never seen each other again.
The United Nations has called the situation immoral and inhumane. The American Academy of Pediatrics says it is traumatic and abusive.
There is nothing more horrifying than the thought of being separated from my son. And so, to support the organizations that are doing the heartbreakingly necessary work of defending and reuniting families, I am running a special sale.
This week, 50% of the profits from all the work that I book will be donated directly to The Florence Project.

Not sure if my services are right for you? Here’s what other people have to say about my work:
“Our community expects high level programming at our gallery, and Katharine’s workshop exceeded our expectations. We continue to use her tips in our email marketing and all of the people that attended have had more confidence in their marketing and navigating social media. The workbook she provided was an added bonus, and a great reference material. We look forward to having her back soon!”
– John Paradiso, Gateway Community Development Corporation
“Katharine is a talented, enthusiastic writer who consistently meets deadlines while invariably delivering high quality work. Easy to work with and keen to generate new ideas, she knows how to craft content that attracts readers and generates discussion on social media. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and creative freelance writer.”
– Dr. Emma Gordon, Content Manager & Editor, LoveLiveHealth.com
“Launching a start-up can be a daunting task both for the editor and the writer. When we launched Trazee Travel, lots of writers showed interest, but Katharine’s work, resume and qualifications stood out from the bunch. We were lucky to have a punctual, reliable and talented writer like Katharine to help us get started. It is a pleasure working with her.”
