Happy December, adventurers!
Is anyone else surprised by the fact that 2014 is almost over? I’m torn between feeling like January 1st was forever ago and feeling like it just happened.
But maybe that’s just because this year has been such a busy one. It was my first year of full-time freelance work — December 7th is my actual “no other jobs but freelancing” anniversary, and that’s right around the corner! Which of course, gets me thinking…
Lesson Learned – What Can You Do Today?
In some ways I feel like this year was incredibly successful, and I’m so proud of all the work I’ve done.
On the other hand, I feel a little disappointed in myself. Not because I haven’t had successes, but because I feel like I haven’t come as far as I wanted to. I feel like I held steady (and recovered some ground that had fallen away) but not like I really moved ahead.
And while I know that (like most freelancers) I am harder on myself than anyone else would be on me, I still feel like I need to do better.
Thinking about that has been getting me down the past few weeks. Until I realized that… it doesn’t matter.
It doesn’t matter what we did yesterday, or last week, or last month.
What matters is what we do today.
What did you do today — what else can you do today — to get closer to your goals?
And it’s as simple as that.
Are You Signed Up?
In terms of work and income, November was a good month. In fact, my billable income doubled from October!
If you’re a freelancer signed up for my newsletter, you found out how I did it.
If you’re not signed up… what are you waiting for?
Blogging My Writing Process
I haven’t done it in a while, I know. And part of that is… editing takes a long time.
But I’m on a different part of editing than I have been for a while, which I’m excited to share! So keep an eye out for that. And in the meantime, catch up on how novel writing goes in the trenches.
